But, they are in want of a contract agreement that can assure a project can be well outlined for each the client and also the developer as to what the expectations are of the complete project.

Start off with the most necessary facet of the whole project. What specifically are you as the developer going to try and do for the shopper? Present a general three-five sentence outline of the scope of service. Can you be responsible for the look and programming? How will the web site be updated? Who can be responsible for the marketing at the end of the proejct? Who will host the web site when the project is completed?
2. Worth and Payments
This is often the area where you are upfront and state the precise worth payment and terms of the payment is split into installments. Is the project quoted at a fastened rate? Is it an hourly rate and how is that this documented and tracked? Will the payments be created with a certain share up front as a down payment and then a monthly billing cycle, or is it a milestone connected payment system?
3. Term and Termination
How long can this agreement contract be enforceable? If the shopper does not want to persue the project ¾ of the means through the project how will he get out? What are the penalties and timeframe they’ll exit the contract? This is crucial particularly to internet development agreements with entreprenuers and startups who several times have a great idea, some type of define or business set up for what they want to try and do, however for some reason never finish through with the project. Then because the developer you want to have certain rights. Do you retain all of the code that has been developed? Can you finish it and retain intellectual property to it? Many factors will go during this space, however it protects both the client and also the developer in the case a developer never is able to complete a project or continues to be late on deliverables and also the shopper desires to terminate the relationship.
4. Ownership of Intellectual Property
One facet that needs to be addressed is who will retain the intellectual property to the project? Typically the consumer retains all intellectual property. This space highlights all of the intellectual property lined such as the source code, all digital files, documentation, etc. Intellectual property is terribly important to any and all web style and development projects.
5. Confidential Data
Many shoppers would like to keep all info that’s exchanged within a project to the developer as highly confidential and cannot be disclosed whatsoever. This should be addressed in any agreement on the extent that information can be disclosed. Can the developer mention that they are operating for the shopper throughout the course of the project to alternative prospects or potential purchasers? Several developers use their portfolio of purchasers as sales tools for alternative clients. This space should represent exactly what’s disclosed and for the way long. What amount of your time is the information kept confidential and therefore on.
6. Warranty and Disclaimer
Having a warranty on the work that’s developed is standard in most web projects. Typically a thirty-90 day warranty is given on all work to be purposeful and bug free. Now this can be the world that small details like the shopper gaining access to the server and by mistake getting into the files and creating changes on mistake that affect the functionality among the terms. Assume of the label on merchandise that you purchase like furniture and mattresses. It says {that the} warranty is void if you tear the label off. This is what you’ll address in this area. You may offer warranty on bound terms and conditions with specific disclaimers as well.
7. Limitation of Liability
This is the realm in that the developer discloses that they are not responsible for any losses of money for the developer or different economic losses directly or indirectly associated with the development of the website. Some less experiences purchasers can turn around to the developer as the supply of their web site not succeeding online. Avoid problems in the long run if something does not succeed {that the} shopper thought would, particularly things {that the} developer cannot control once the website is launched. Also, throughout the project itself, if for whatever reason there’s a financial loss, it protects you as a developer.
8. Relation of Parties
Create certain {that the} shopper and developer understand what their relationship is. Is the relationship a development partnership? Is it strictly a work-for-rent type relationship? Is it a consumer and vendor relationship. This is the realm where this desires to be highlighted to make positive the business relationship is understood.
9. Employee Solicitation / Hiring
Many developers never assume twice regarding this, but there are cases where clients have lured staff or freelancers of the developer throughout or when the project was completed. Of course this has huge negative aspects associated to it if this happens. That’s why this space is also extremely crucial to lay out the very fact {that the} shopper can not solicite the developers workers in any method when it involves potential hiring or further perks. Specify a sure amount of time for this as well. Usually this point from is between 2-5 years.
10. Entire Agreement
This is the ending of the document that primarily should say that the complete document and its attributes fall underneath the complete contract and that nothing can supersede it. Also, this is often the realm the will have the shopper and developers key representative who can sign it, date it, and post their roles among the company. Create positive that any and every one modifications when signature are signed with initials of each parties next to the change.
These 10 steps to writing a successful internet design and development contract and agreement can give a ease to each the shopper and developer and will pave the way to a trusting business relationship.
Some purchasers may be stunned when presented with what might be a two-four page document to read and sign. Don’t be afraid to steer them through every purpose and reaffirm the fact that such a document is required to safeguard them as a shopper and you as a developer in any unwanted circumstances, at the identical time highlights exactly what everyone’s obligations are. With that said, there ought to be no problems and also the consumer should be willing to sign the document. After all if they’re not willing to sign the document maybe it is a financial loss to you because the developer however in the long run it can avoid headaches and even a lot of substancial financial losses.

BEST WAYS OF RECOVERING SHOPPING CARTS
Can you imagine the chaos if every second shopper at your local grocery store abandoned their full cart at the checkout counter. But that’s exactly what’s happening in the online retail environment.
Various studies have been done which show that the percentage of online shopping sessions that are abandoned is anything from twenty to seventy five per cent. The reasons for abandonment are many and varied, but unless online retailers address the issues, they will continue to lose out on a fortune of potential sales.
The solution is two-fold.Online retailers firstly need to ascertain the reasons for the high rate of abandonment and then plan a way forward to deal with the problems.Sounds simple, but it’s not.It’s a complex process with customer needs ever-changing and technology evolving rapidly.It’s important that your web design company keeps abreast of any changing e-commerce technology and processes.
Some of the main reasons for shopping cart abandonment are :
* Comparison shopping
* Indecision and confusion
• Insufficient funds
* HIgh shipping costs
* Products unavailable at checkout
• Lengthy and complicated checkout process
* Not keen to disclose any personal information
* Perception that customer support isn’t satisfactory
* Concerns about security
To increase the rate of conversion, the site should be looked at from the client’s side.what often happens is that e-commerce sites are designed the wrong way around – from the inside out, not outside in.The same rule that the customer is king applies in the real world and the virtual world.
Dale Carter, MD of Perth web design company, GTP iCommerce, has some guidelines for sealing the deal. “The ecommerce interface has to be consistent with the design of the homepage, otherwise it will undermine the site’s credibility.Streamline and simplify the whole process whilst also taking away the need for unnecessary collection of data.Buyer frustration is directly linked to the speed of the transaction, so it is vital to get that right.According to studies, around 41% of shoppers will abandon their cart because check-out is taking too long, and that an average shopper will only wait 10 seconds to download a site.It’s important not to have any hidden costs, and to be totally upfront with the cost of shipping etc. as well avoid banner ads or other distractions.
“Ensure you’ve got the basics of web design covered.The basic elements of design such as colour, layout, navigation and links are in fact, often undervalued.It’s important to have a site that can be navigated quickly and easily, with customer support that is easily accessible and visible security protection.Online retailers should consider inserting a currency converter too.”
Some of the problems and solutions can be worked on, is there a way to recover carts that have already been abandoned ?”No doubt,” says Carter.”Customer data such as email addresses and telephone numbers should be collected during the initial order stages.An immediate, automated response can then be sent to the shopper if they abandon their cart so as to enourage them to return.”
Professional web design combined with careful e-commerce processes will help close the deal and clear the mounting piles of abandoned shopping carts.

GET INTO THE DRIVING SEAT WITH SEO
What would we do without search engines.There is no denying that search engines are unbelievably powerful resources for everyone, from the man-in-the-street finding somewhere to have his camera repaired to a scientist searching for a cure for cancer.Search engines can also be used as a powerful marketing tool for an organisation’s website.
The most well-known search engine in the world, Google, started in 1997 as a search engine called ‘BackRub’ set up by two friends from Stanford Univesity, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.They took the name from the word ‘googol’ which is the mathematical term for the number 1 to the power of 100, because it was an apt descriptor of their system’s search capability. How right they were!
AOL research shows that a page1, position 1 ranking can deliver up to fourteen times more traffic than a position 10 ranking. Similarly, the iProspect Search Engine User Behaviour study (2006) showed that 62% of searchers will click on a first page link of search engine results. For any business, achieving a position one, page one ranking on search engines is the ultimate marketing prize. And that can be achieved through appropriate web design and search engine optimisation (SEO).
Search engine optimisation is the process through which high rankings in the free listing sections of search engines including Google, Yahoo and MSN are achieved.Essentially, SEO is driving website traffic to a particular website to achieve high rankings in search engines by building links to the website.The number of links is built up by establishing links internally within the website itself as well as external page links.
Appointing a well-established web design company is the first step to making the most of SEO opportunities.The environment is in a constant state of flux and extremely complex, so success is not instantaneous.The success of an SEO strategy lies in careful planning, implementation and evaluation.
GTP iCommerce has built a reputation as a leading Perth web design company which has proven success in SEO.Over the years, GTP has fine-tuned its SEO process that includes areas such as marketing objectives, market segmentation, keyword analysis and research, SEO copywriting, link building, traffic analysis and ongoing review.
MD of GTP iCommerce web design in Perth, Dale Carter, says identifying and targeting the best keywords and phrases used to search for a particular business is one of the most crucial aspects of an SEO programme. “It is surprising how many organizations don’t do this properly.Once the site has been designed and coded with the best keywords to make it search-engine friendly, it is important to then build links from other websites back to the original site. Websites gain traffic through these links, plus Google also recognizes these links in a positive way when it works out the rankings.It is important to build as many links as possible because Google uses a complex algorithm to rank sites,” he added.
A whole host of opportunities exist for building links from reciprocal links with other websites, links with web resources such as news feeds, newsletters, blogs, articles and downloads.
GTP iCommerce web design guarantees a page one search engine ranking for its clients’ websites using its proven search engine optimisation strategies. Now that’s better than a backrub!
Designing A Web Site For A Set Screen Resolution is Outdated
Introduction
As we gradually gained more experience with website development over a period of about 15 years I started getting used to asking the question what size screen resolution should we build this website for?
I was reading somewhere recently that apparently these days the only answer to that question should be ‘all of them’ and ‘none of them’. What this basically means is that new websites should be built to accommodate all different screen sizes these days, particularly with the increased popularity of hand help web browsers, smart phones, net books and the like. Of course there is also the other end of the spectrum in the new huge wide screen flat screen monitors. I recently treated myself to a 24 inch Asus which does 1920×1080 which is big enough to get two web browser windows on screen side by side, but if you make one of them full size, the majority or websites look, well, just plain odd!
What exactly is screen resolution then?
If you are not familiar with screen resolution, the simple answer is that it is the size of your desktop. However, this can be quite misleading because it is actually the number of pixels that make up the display area on the screen of your monitor. Still not clear? Well let’s look at some examples to help clarify exactly what screen resolution is.
Currently what would appear to be the most favourite screen resolution is 1024×768 (accounting for 62% of my website visitors). This is a screen that is 1024 pixels wide by 768 pixels high. What is a pixel? A Pixel, derived from the phrase Picture Element, is basically one of the thousands of tiny dots that make up your display screen. However, this does not necessarily determine the physical size of your monitor (14 inch, 15 inch, 19 inch etc) because most monitors are capable of displaying the screen in different screen resolutions. It is fairly true to say that if you want to run your monitor at a high screen resolution then you will need a large monitor, the larger the monitor the greater the resolution it can display at (assuming your graphics card can support a high resolution).
All getting a bit technical? Put simply the larger the screen resolution the more things you can fit on your screen before they have to go onto the next line, or before you have to scroll down or scroll right.
What’s this got to do with Website Design?
When creating the layouts for a new website design, traditionally the experienced graphic designer would be working to a specific resolution in order to make sure that the design fits in your browser window without having to scroll right. (Thankfully most website owners don’t demand you make their pages so that you don’t have to scroll down anymore!)
A popular screen resolution to design for is 1024×768 but when viewed at a larger screen size such as 1280×960 will have unused portions of screen so a skilled ecommerce web design company will take this into account and provide one of several solutions.
When designing at a fixed resolution you can deal with larger display settings by either aligning the site to the left and having a huge great big gap to the right, or you can centre align the website in the available space and then the extra screen resolution will be on either side of the content area.
However, the sensible, modern day approach is to make the site flexible to accommodate all screen resolutions by creating ‘fluid’ content that will flow to fit the available page space irrespective of what size screen resolution it is viewed at.
Also, because of the increased competitiveness of the web the challenge for a website owner is how to engage your viewers and get them to stay on your website for as long as possible and show them as much content as possible. One way to help with this is to make full use of all of the available space. Two great big blank areas either side of a tiny web page is simply just a waste of space. Imagine if you picked up a newspaper or magazine and only half of the front page had got any content on it, the editor would get the sack for sure! So by creating fluid websites, web site owners can take advantage of larger publishing spaces available on bigger screen users, whilst optimising content for display on smaller screens as well.
Another advantage with big screen displays is the ability to use the new area for re-publishing. Re-publishing is a way to put content from another area of your site onto a different page, thereby bringing it forward for the viewer. An example of this that we did on one site we created was to insert an alphabetical list of names of the products available on the website underneath the left hand menu on pages that were very long.
All pages tend to be different lengths, as determined by the content on the page, so we used a clever widget to create this list of product names and squirt it in the gap until it ran out of space. This was great for SEO too as it gave a direct link to specific product pages based on their product names without having to crawl through category pages first, also website users would often see something in the list they wanted and click straight through to the page and buy the item.
Ultimately this has evolved into what would now be thought of as a web 2.0 ‘tag cloud’ a list of tags that are usually user generated, to indicate and link directly to a specific content group or item. Using a tag cloud is a great way to fill stretched spaces on larger screens that you can fill with what are effectively links to other parts of the website.
How do you make fluid content?
Fluid content is not that hard to create, the majority will be words of course, which are naturally fluid so on a small resolution screen you might get 5-10 words to a row, on a larger screen you can get 20-30 words or more. However the challenge comes with images, and particularly website graphics. A photograph, whilst it can be made smaller and larger offline, it can’t be automatically resized by the web browser at the time of viewing (not taking into account the Zoom function in Internet Explorer).
The HTML code that makes up your web pages is again designed to allow fluidity by fitting content into the available page area, so some pointers that can be employed to make content fluid include not using tables in the code (which are depreciated these days now anyway), not setting specific screen width in pixels, use 100% instead. By fading images into blocks of colour in the website graphics, you can create a stretchable element that will scale to fit all window sizes. Use little boxes to put stuff in, these can then flow around the screen as required without having to be in any particular place, they also help to draw the eye to special offers, discounts, newsletter sign ups etc, and can of course be styled by your graphic designer with curves and shadows and gradients to look great.
Conclusion
Only the best Loughborough web design companies are able to offer a fluid design that will work at all screen resolutions and fill the entire screen with content on larger monitors, and provide a design that also works at smaller resolutions on smart phones and netbooks. Ensure then that your design agency are conversant in this design concept, if they are not familiar with it, walk away!
How to start building your business on the web.
Marketing is going to be exceedingly important to your website’s success, but you need to have good web design as well. After all, you can lead people to your website, but if it is displayed poorly, they won’t stay long. The average customer spends about 3-5 seconds on a page before making the decision to stay or not. You need to appeal to your clients in a way that is functional, appealing, and effective in getting your point across. This will depend a lot on your specific type of business, as well as the customer base you are trying to reach. For example, if you wanted to reach older adults, you would make your site very simple, plain, and easy to read and traverse. On the other side, if you want to reach teenagers or young adults, having a fun, hip website will be to your best advantage. Here are more tips on web development that can help you.
– Focus on what sells. Know what your options are, and which ones will work best.
– Find out about your competition. Finding out what your competitors are doing and how it’s working for them can help you to eliminate options or figure out what you need to do to get one step ahead of them.
– Hire a professional website designer. Money may be tight, but you don’t want to convey that through your website. Interview a lot of people to find one that’s cost-effective and qualified to do the work the right way the first time.
– Use packaged services when available. Hire a design service that can provide other tools, too, such as data backup and merchant tools. This will often save you money because you’re getting a package deal.
Keeping website development tips in mind will help you to create a better website, which will create more traffic in the long run. Although it may be initially expensive, any investment you make in the way of making your business or website better will only make things better for you in the end.
If you are on a very limited monetary limit, you can use website templates and pre-designed layouts on free servers to get started. This IS NOT recommended, because people will be able to tell that it’s generic and unoriginal, but it is an option if you’re starting a company with nothing. It’s highly recommended to allow professional web designers do the job, to ensure that you get the business and interest that you need, as well as a website that will stand the test of time.
Web design can range from inexpensive to quite costly, however, this depends on what you have in mind. However, it’s an investment that will move things largely in your favor, if handled properly.
